I've had a couple of Timnehs in the past. Adorable, peculiar personalities!

Frey is a Congo African grey. I have never seen a Timneh. He is technically my sister's bird. She bought him from a pet store around 1994 or so. He was with his previous owners for a little over a year before that.

My mom took care of him a lot while my sister was overseas and he ended up bonding with her. Now he is my mom's bird. In the beginning he never really cared for me. He started behaving friendly with me about a year or two ago, right around the time I started giving him pieces of banana on a regular basis.

Now we are somewhat buddies, but his main bond is still with my mom. He is a funny bird. He says a lot of things, but never when someone is directly in front of him. Out of his visible sight though, he tends to talk up a storm and make many other interesting noises. When I go into the bathroom at night, he makes the sound of brushing teeth. He imitates both cats, and you can always tell which one he is mimicking.

He's a pretty cool bird.

One of the Timnehs(Congos are brighter colored) I had I raised from a chick. In hand raising him we fed him baby bird food, which needed heating. We used a nucular(to be pc, of course) oven to warm up his food, so he learned not only how to beep like the nucular oven, but would synchronize his beeps with the beeps from the oven. He heard the smoke alarm once....once!, and could ever after mimick it perfectly. I also taught him the first phrase of the Colonel Bogey march from Bridge Over the River Kwai.

If you're not aware, parrots are omnivores of opportunity in the wild - they eat anything they can get their beaks on, so it's best for them to have a lot of variety in their diet. They can, and love to eat anything we eat, especially if they see us eat it first. The only exception is dairy. Their digestive system can't handle it, and they stand a fair chance of aspirating it.

Beemer really enjoys breakfast foods, especially pancakes and French toast, or toast with peanut butter and jam on it.

That spreckles organ rings a bell. The woman who plays it, San Diego's Civic Organist Dr. Carol Williams, just gave a concert in this area recently. 'Twas excellent. Random is a lucky bunch to be able to hear that regularly. Quite a lady too. I reckon Piq could speak her language.
