Pol Pot: Anatomy of a Nightmare, Phillip Short
This is more or less a biography of Pol Pot, the primary figure behind the Killing Fields of Cambodia in the 70's. The author (a former BBC correspondent), spent about 5 years interviewing some of the leaders and other figures involved.
But the author spends a lot of time analyzing many different aspects contributing to these horrific events too - not JUST a biography of Pol Pot but Cambodia itself.
I was particularly intrigued by how the author points out how Therevada Buddhism, in this particular culture and time, played a roll.
A little difficult to get the hang of reading since many characters changed their names many times and they are all similar and complicated for my english speaking brain.
