Regarding that masked man, I have a record of the first Lone Ranger radio broadcast, as well as several others, including Superman, The Shadow, Amos 'n' Andy, and more.

The "Theater of the Mind" was a lot of fun, but it required you to pay attention.

I remember watching the Lone Ranger and the first concert my parents took me the orchestra played W.Tell, something I knew at the age of 5. My mom says I loved Burns and Allen (still do) and the Mickey Mouse Club. Thank heaven for TVland.

My girls love old radio shows, and this weekend my youngest (age 15) was laughing hysterically over the Marx Brothers marathon on TCM. We won't discuss the high school senior and her crush on Gene Kelly.

I think Bernard Hermann did the scores for most of his films. I think Camper is referring to the TV series, which featured a classical piece as the theme music, which should be as familiar to listeners to B.com listeners as Puffing Billy is to Captain Kangaroo fans.

How about The Big Story? That was from black & white TV days involving investigative journalism. Each program was a dramatized account of a reporter's tenacious quest to uncover a crime. Too bad it never made reruns (as far as I know). The music was truly "heroic".
