Explain this quote to me, please?

At one point, early on, the Supreme Court and Constitution were not intended to dominate law in individual states.

The Federalists began to change this idea a bit. A lot of state constitutions were changed relatively quickly to fall in line with the big one. I find Madison (and Jefferson) to be extremely interesting in this particular respect. From what I've read, he did about 180 degree turn.

It has been along time since I delved into the Federalist Papers but I think the quote has to do with realigning the states constitutions under the federal constitution as supreme law.

That probably sounds weird at first glance but they were intent on learning from other nations mistakes. I'd lay odds on this one. They were talking about centralizing certain authority primarily international trade and military. (scratch, scratch,...I reckon).

Remember what happened after the civil war? Lincoln took this a leap forward.

I do NOT think they envisioned anything like the Patriot Act.

You understand the rationalization of an acronym comprised of acronyms.

Your biggest loss from a system crash is that you loose your best jokes.

Your supervisor does not have the ability to do your job.

You sit in a cubicle smaller than your bedroom closet.

You think lunch is just a meeting to which you drive.

Fun is when issues are assigned to someone else.

Communication is something your group is having problems with.

You see a good looking person and know it is a visitor.

Free food left over from meetings is your main staple.

It's dark when you drive to and from work.

Weekends are those days your spouse makes you stay home.

Being sick is defined as "can't walk" or "I'm in the hospital".

Art involves a white board.

You're already late on the assignment you just got

You work 200 hours for the $100 performance check and jubilantly say, "Oh wow, thanks!"

Dilbert cartoons hang outside every cube.

Your boss' favorite lines are "when you get a chance", "in you free time", and "I have an opportunity for you".

Your relatives and family describe your job as "works with computers".

Change is the norm.

Nepotism is encouraged.

The only reason you recognize your kids is because their pictures hang in your cube.

You only have makeup for flourescent lighting.

You can name more people that used to work with you than actually work with you.

Well, I've never associated Jesus with tyranny, but I suppose he is an absolutist. I think there are probably times when absolutism is a good thing.

I went shopping last night for my daughters birthday present and bought a compilation of the Federalist Papers and a Puccini CD. She's turning 15. You think she'll like them? LOL.

JK, I bought those for the household (OK...me), and sent my husband on a mission for MP3 players for my daughter.

Anyway, I have just barely begun this new book and it is fascinating. There is lots of background information included that I'm really enjoying. I can't believe how much I've forgotten!
