Something odd about the webcam

Is there something strange going on with the webcam or do I have some sort of spamware running?

I open up the webcam, and after about three or four minutes, it changes to a "System Performance Wizard."

If anybody has been able to get rid of this symptom, how did you do it? :confused:

I've been having the same problem. I also get that "System Performance Wizard" screen when I try to return to the b.com home page about 40% of the time I try to go back after being on the bbb. I think Spam is best left to Monty Python!

This "System Wizard" ad is having the opposite of its desired effect: I wouldn't touch the product in a million years because the ad is so annoying! If I leave the Webcam on, it turns into the ad!

Me, too! I just don't understand the marketing geniuses who came up with that idea - tick off strangers so they'll buy your product. Yeah, right.

I'm not having problems with the webcam, I'm having problems getting to the b.com website! I open it, get the b.com home page with a message in blue font just above the b.com log saying something about being forwarded to another site and then I get the System Performance Wizard ad. When i click to close it, I disconnect from the internet. Since this happened the first time, my internet window won't is about 1" shy of the top of my screen when fully expanded. I'm most annoyed!

I'm beginning to think this $##!&?@)% "System Performance Wizard" is some kind of virus!

It is definitely evil. I, too, cannot imagine why anyone would want to by software that attacks so tenaciously.

I finally got the window on my office computer to come back to full size, but my home computer is still not quite right. I haven't had time to play with it to get it back. Maybe tomorrow. I'm off to a BBQ to welcome two Marines home from Iraq.

Not only did I get that damn Wizard when I logged in but have lost the station twice this morning. ARRRGGH and it has just happened again. I may have to go back to listening to CDs.

And a word to the "wizards" - this is NOT the way to get customers! The banner over the picture is fine, but taking away the picture with no way to get it back - baaaaaad!

I second Barfle's post immediately above. I just got my internet window full sized and when I opened the b.com window I was redirected to the Wizrd without my asking. I closed the window and relogged onto the internet just to find my window is shrunk again.

Who are these people and why are they so invasive?

I've been watching this thread for some time with interest. I had no idea what the problem was you all were talking about until it happend to me today in the studio. (We can't fix a problem unless we can reproduce it) Our tech staff is looking into it since we now have a better understanding of what may be going on. We'll post more info in a bit.

Thank you for alerting us to this problem. I found what the culprit was and eliminated it from interfering with the webcam or the bulletin board pages. Please let us know if you experience this or similar problems in the future. Some times we're concentrating so much on the webcast (which is our primary focus, obviously) that we don't catch these things on the website right away. My apologies for any frustrations this caused anyone!

Sorry Kevin, I still get the Wizard ... when I "click here to return to the Beethoven.com Home Page", like I will do right after I post this, I will get the home page and at the top left of the home page will be a blue string that reads "Please wait while we redirect you" then I get the Wizard and a number of other damn things...

If it is just my computer now... well #(%*%^&

I get that Wizard banner as well, but can close it without problems. To me all pop-up windows are annoying, but this one appears to be the least of my problems. Wonder why we all appear to have slightly different experiences?

It's been running for over an hour, so it looks like you da man one more time Kevin!

Gabbers, my issue wasn't that I couldn't close a popup, it was that my webcam picture window was getting turned into a popup, which I couldn't get back to without going through the webcam page on b.com

Earlier on the day I first posted my concerns, I had inadvertently gone to a website that installed two popup spam programs on my computer, so I was wondering if it was just me and my problem, or if their webcam server had an issue. OT, it's good to know I wasn't the only one with that problem, and Kevin, you really seem to know how to tweak the web. Kudos and Bravos to you, sir.
