I just right click the window bar on the bottom and then left click close when the menu pops up (windows obviously - don't know if that's a Mac option)

On the other hand, I'll usually click through on every 4th or 5th ad - that way it keeps revenue flowing through the "system" and money to Beethoven.com.

Occasionally I go through and wipe the cookies off the hard drive to clean it up a bit, but it's a small price to pay for the station...

That's true Nicole, but it just means disabling popthis in your browser. Tools/popthis options/untick protection box/click apply. When B player loads up just do as above and retick the protection box.

There's a free popup stopper called (are you ready for this) Popup Stopper (by PanicWare). It's totally free. If you have it turned on and you want a popup, you just hold down the Control key and the popup comes up. Then, you take you finger off the Control key and the popup stopper is again engaged.

OT, quick, loan me the FRS

At home I use AOL for my principal browser - you can disable popups, in general, and then enable them for specific sites. Very convenient. So b.com comes through, popups and all, other sites don't.

The selections are persistent until you redo them on purpose. No fussing with hot keys or tick boxes required.

Just learned that Google is offering a menu bar with pop-up stopper, which can be flipped on and off at will. Its free, which is nice.

McAfee icon is a yellow circle with a plus and minus sign in it. It just makes me think of a winking smiley. Its not flashy or "fun".

I hate spam. I recieve dozens of e-mails everyday reminding me that they p***s is too small and I owe too much money.

And that's from people I don't even know! I wasn't aware so many people had seen me P***s or my bank account!

Just another note about blocking popups:

Mozilla and Mozilla Firebird are two very good browsers that block popups very well (at least firebird does, I don't use the plain old mozilla build).

And you should get ad-aware and check for spyware, just to be safe, also, some popup ads are totaly unrelated to pages you visit if you have particular ad-ware aps hiding on your machine... Evil, evil ad people who make software that installs itself and puts ads up. Banner ads are fine, some popups I can tollerate. Full animated things that jump around my screen and trick me into clicking on them annoy me to no end.

Do they actually do marketing research that shows these types of ads as effective?? If anything, for me, it makes me hate the company that is advertising in that fashion and go somewhere else if I need a product like that. I mean, seriously, isn't an advertising company's goal to generate SALES and not just HITS?
