Nicole-Marie,
Thanks - I listen over the internet throughout the day here at work. I tried to get you on my car radio for the commute and was not successful.
Anyway - thanks to you and the entire staff for making the day go by with great talk and music!
Regards,
Howard

Thanks NM for the history . I was a WTMI fan for 2&1/2 decades. May B.Com and the "new" WTMI up north live long and prosper.

What ever became of Lynn Farmer?

To the topic - I am not put off by hearing a church service on radio. It reminds me of "Willoughby", that this all consuming rush in which we live is a recent aberration. Sometimes one hears a really thoughtful & uplifting talk, other times it's best to switch stations.

Hmmm - Henry Thoreau complained of the rush too - maybe it's not so recent after all.

howard, I made that typo once too, on a fax. My attny and his entire office laughed til they fell over, then sent me a corrected fax: Oy vey!
After that, I made "Oh vey" something of a personal signature. Glad to see Im not alone!

Hey Analog-

Not sure what happend to Lynn. I know most of the old WTMI staff from Florida were hired by another station in the area. This other station tried to fill the classical gap left by WTMI. They hired most of the old staff and tried to mimic the success of the old station. For some reason they could not get it to work. Last I heard they changed formats and some of the old staff was let go.

Barfle,
Did you know you can buy the entire TZ series on DVD. A bit costly but I've been thinking about it as I am a HUGE TZ fan. Watch the marathons all the time.
Willoughby is one of my favorites.
I also love the ones with Burgess Meredith.

Howard

Indeed I do! I have the first three box sets in my collection already, acquiring them at a rate of about one per year.

Let's see, Burgess Meredith... Time Enough At Last (busted thick glasses on the library steps) and I believe it was called Obsolete Man where the Nazi gets his due.

I did not know that. I will have to listen in. What Christian Music format? There is no venue for contemporary gospel music in my area. The odd thing is I live in the Metropolitan Area, where it should be available, if anywhere. A couple of the "R&B" stations have dedicated the hours from 8 until 11AM to Christian music.

Think about this. It is called "Beethoven.com", yet they do not play Beethoven all day. In fact they play a variety of excellent classical choices. There is room for diversity, within reason. Most of the time I get the classical music I seek. For a few hours once a week they accomodate another venue. I don't see a problem with it. It seems like something I would enjoy. Even if it weren't I welcome the diversity. I would just listen to WQXR on regular radio. (By the way, even WQXR features "live religeous services from Temple Emanuel" every Friday evening.

GeoLes,
I listen to WQXR in my car but
as soon as internet radio is available for cars i will be listening to B.com all the time.

The local AM signal out of Hartford is just not strong enough to get to me on the south shore of long island.

One day!!!!
