Car Radio - "FMast"

My car radio has 4 wavebands: AM, FM1, FM2, and FMast.
I know what the first 3 are, but FMast (no explanation in the manual)?
All 3 FM bands cover the same range of frequencies.
Could it be some device for suppressing the stereo signal component to produce mono, to reduce noise in poor reception areas?
Anyone know?

Repeat FM bands is so you can preset 3 sets of FM stations. This is handy if you share use of the car with kids: mine were required to keep all their stations on FM2. Though I can't translate FMast. Ask a teenager. (Though there will probably be eye-rolls to accompany the explanation.)

This third feature in a car allow you to store the 6 strongest stations when you are in a specific area. Say you are on a trip or something...you keep moving out of station ranges. The autostore function allows you to press a button and the radio will automatically seek and store the strongest stations. "FM ast" (FMAST as you have it) means. "FM Auto Store". You may also have an AM ast.

Thanks Jamie - that's exactly what it does.
I had confused it with the automatic search function which works on all bands (unless you set the "manual" mode before scanning), but does not store station frequency settings.

Uhm... hasn't been that awful long ago that having FM in the car was a hotshot thing, ya know.
Not for the cars I scoot around in.

I guess I'm lucky this one has a cassette rather than 8-track...

Then again, not too awful long ago l learned the lesson about buying audio CD's vs data CD's... then just a couple weeks ago I learned about buying DVD's vs. data CD's... DVD+ vs DVD-???? Uhmmmm...

Mmmm... not sure I'm going to find a use for the DVD's. Anybody need some blank DVD's? I don't... Memorex DVD+R. What ever that means... I know Spike didn't like my trying to use one as a data disc...

Yes! It's called AM radio (but it only work in Hartford CT)
Do look for a car radio with an external input for iPods and such as we will be podcasting pretty soon.
