Greetings from West Point!!

Postby usarmycadet » Mon Dec 09, 2002 12:16 am

I'm a cadet here at the United States Military Academy. I really enjoy listening to Beethoven Radio as I am doing homework in the middle of the night. It keeps me inspired and awake.
GO ARMY!!

You must be psyched...Christmas Vacay is on the way.
One of my best friends from high school went to West Point -- he graduated in 1987. He worked for the radio station (WKDT?). Upon graduation he received a NAVY Sweatshirt in a gag swap with Annapolis. He gave me the shirt -- it was WARM!
We grew up in Kingston, New York. I did visit him and the grounds -- Beautiful Chapel, great museum, oh, and no gum chewing on the plain!
To answer your next question, he served his five years (did the Persian Gulf War) and left for another battlefield -- Arthur Andersen. He works at another Tech Co. now.
Good Luck.
[ 12-09-2002: Message edited by: DavidEB310 ]

Yep, I can't wait until Christmas. I really looking forward to seeing my family but most of all, my girlfriend, Joy.
Is there anyone else out there that was or is currently in the military?

Hi army. I'm a 'nam era vet myself, but ended up in Germany so nobody was deliberately shooting at me. I learned a few useful skills, several useless skills (polishing work boots? keeping a straight gig line?) but I feel the experience was valuable to me.
It takes a special kind of person to make a career out of the military, and I'm afraid it wasn't in me to do that. I'm a little too independent for it, but I appreciate those who have decided that it's their duty to help pay the dues of liberty by personally defending it.

This weekend I will be wearing my English Civil War Musketeer's clothing. Does that count? ;)

Hey I may not be in the military yet, but I'm from Annapolis MD and I at least always root for Navy. I go to the Navy Football games at home when they have them. They are lots of fun. I also read in the paper about the cadets prank on Billy the Goat. That was pretty clever but all I can say is Go Navy Beat Army!!!!!!

Makhnovite;
If I'm not mistaken, I still have a WKDT painter's cap from the mid-1980's that my buddy (who also worked at the radio station) gave me.
It's white with WKDT on the top, and a Green and Yellow brim. I used to wear it sometimes at Plattsburgh State where I went to school. We traded; he got a Cardinals cap, and I received the Cadet cap.
[ 12-12-2002: Message edited by: DavidEB310 ]

My blood runs Air Force Blue. I enlisted in the 80's. Did the Gulf War thing. (though I also did Germany.) Got out, but soon decided that I hated being a civilian. I'm an officer now.
I have a special respect for people who willingly put themselves through crazy things they do at the service academies for 4 years. 12 weeks of that BS at OTS was more than enough for this old Airman.
Go Falcons!
[ 12-18-2002: Message edited by: buikemap ]
[ 12-18-2002: Message edited by: buikemap ]

Any room for ex nuclear submariners in here? Just want to wish you a merry Christmas Armycadet, even if you are a future officer (as opposed to a working person)! :)

Hi,
I'm British and live / work in Belgium. Westpoint is your equivalent to Sandhurst in the UK ? So good luck with the studies. I listen to Beethoven.com at work, amazing how classical music unites so many people.
Elizabeth.
