This was on Good Morning America this morning when I returned from my daughters bus stop. IN FT.MYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was discovered two weeks ago and no one said ANYTHING!!!!!!

Did you see the article on CNN about it? How they determined that the information belonged to an individual. . .not a group. . .and they said that it wasn't a threat. . .

How do they know that the individual didn't copy that disc and send it to a terrorist group??? eh, how do they know?

What do you propose they do, lock down the schools, dismiss class indefinitely?

Or should they quietly and deliberately step up surveilance of the schools, watch people on the "watch list" a little closer, and monitor for suspicious activity.

Also, what makes you think their not doing the latter?

You know, it's funny. We go to chartreuse alert, or whatever it's called, with an "unspecified threat". These wackos had documents pertaining to THOUSANDS of U.S. schools, and raise no alarm whatsoever?!!! Yes, I want potential threats BROADLY AND IMMEDIATELY publicized whenever and wherever they occur. If that had involved my child, I'm pretty sure I'd be standing on some bureaucrat's desk right now.

Sheesh! These nuts are potentially targeting our CHILDREN, for God's sake.

A friend recently gave me a prediction that the Bush administration would orchestrate a national emergency requiring the institution of martial law, shortly before the coming election, in order to cancel the elections on Nov. 2. On Nov. 3, the crisis would be cleared up, and the President will announce the elections will be held on something like Nov. 5. This will accomplish two things:
1. It will occur so quickly after the crisis resolution that not everyone will get the word/be prepared to get to the polls, i.e. there will be sufficient confusion as to detrimentally affect voter turnout.
2. It will be soon enough on the heels of the "crisis" that a fair number of voters will be afraid to go to the polls.

When he told me that, I almost laughed to myself at the incredulity of such nonsense.
I'm daily becoming less sure that that scenario is so far-fetched.

I'm still holding with my projection that we'll see UBL on Oct 25th.

I'm a big girl, I'm a parent, give me the facts and let me decide. Who would YOU trust to make a decision about your child? The School Commissioner? My kids teacher? The FBI?
How about MOM! ARGGGGHHHH. How dare they take away the most fundamental job of parenting from parents!

School person: Gee we don't know yet, thats why we didn't tell you.

RC: But you think they might be a child molester? and you didn't tell me?

I'm with you guys. Present the parents with the information that you have. Don't panic them, but let them do what they will with the knowledge.

This election year has me so bent out of shape, I'm actually agreeing with Shapley on this one (with apologies to Saxy, OT, and RC). But, then, I don't have a kid on a school bus.

Publicizing the discovered information before evaluating it's origin and intent would
1)promote panic locally,
2)give exaggerated credence to al Qaeda's reach,
3)and thwart calm attention to the real problem, if there is one.

Of course, if I had any reason not to trust the school administration, I would think differently.

We are being USED! This was very specific information that we could have done something with.

Jeb Bush has said he didn't know anything about it. The principal at my daughters school, whom I have long admired, told me this morning that yes she knew and they were "...keeping the back gate locked" in response.

When they get a specific bomb threat, they don't comb the building until they find a bomb, they evacuate the school and THEN look for a bomb.
