After harvesting last night's filtered spam headers i learned what you doubtless knew already. The spam comes from everywhere. I didnt get two from the same sub-address group on either RR or COMCAST.

Lots of them traced to china. Even US spam is outsourced!

At my level of ignorance it amounts to fighting stealth bombers with a stone ax. I'm beat for now. Microsoft put the hooks in there that made the mess, it ought to be their problem. Yet they wont touch security software. I expect they're all in cahoots.

I'd rather put the effort into building a fine set of speakers. That'll be a different thread.

Yes, I hear they're getting their own area code, 666.

A friend of mine tried out one of those WAL-MART computers (not in stores, he ordered from their website) that comes with LINUX. He loves it. I may try one just to protest.

I've been tempted a couple of times to download the emoticons advertised but I have not seen anyone using them on the board. How come? Is there a catch? Are you flooded with pop-ups? Is there a hidden clause in the agreement?

Lliam,

I've had no problem accessing e-mail. If you still have trouble try clicking on the mail2web link that Barfle posted on this thread back on 12-23-2003 at 1:43pm.

It would seem something's up with b.com e-mail today? Are we on the backup emergency substitute server?

Nope, this is it! The new and improved email!

The last version had way to many bugs in it. This new version is minus all the bugs, plus you can change your background. I changed mine to a sunset! Helps to calm my day, looking at the sunset that is.

If you have questions on it contact helpme@beethoven.com

I think Donna used to use them. She had a couple really cool emoticons going on!

They must be bugged or something...like gremlins (the movie). I could use a couple of presidential gremlins right about now...

How about those BIG advertisements now on the "new and improved" email? You know, the ones where you have to scroll down to find the button that lets you get to your actual mail?

I'm not against ads, but do they have to be done in such a way as to FORCE us to see them? Can't you folks put the button NEXT to or ABOVE the ad?

Regards,
Tim B.

Good point... I'll bring it up with the IT staff and see if it's even possible. We use an email system that sends us a template that we fill. It may be that ad placement is b/c of the template. But I'll ask.

Due to the heat wave here in New England we are having server issues today. The company in downtown Hartford that houses our servers (and servers to dozens of other CT companies) is having trouble keeping the building at a steady temp. The building is overheating. The high temps are causing the servers to overheat and run slow and in some cases crash. Our IT staff is there trying to cool down our servers. You may find email and parts of our site not working correctly. Our IT staff is focused on the specific servers that stream the station, that's the priority. Sorry for the trouble. The heat is supposed to break tomorrow so we should be OK in a day or two.
