My mouse driver locks-up every two or three minutes, requiring the three finger microsoft salute to unlock it. Refreshing driver is no help and IT guys are baffled. At the thrift store I got a grocery-sack full of mice for ten cents apiece, and when it gets too much just smash one.
Guess im a serial mouse killer.

On the boat we could've used one of the reports for the Reactor Plant Manual(RPM). There was this one procedure that had us pumping primary coolant into the potable water system. Never could figure that one out, but it sure saved on reading lamps in the bunks....

Getting back to the subject (clears throat in an officious manner) we had a computer mishap here today. We have a contact database program which has the capability to merge several people's contact information into one record, in the event that duplicate contact records have been formed and need to be consolidated. It also has the ability to merge a whole bunch of contact records into one record based on a filter of the database. Well, one of the marketing people thought that she was doing the former, merging just two duplicate records, when in fact she was clicking the menu item for the latter, while she had a filter running for a different purpose that included literally thousands of customers. Now all those customers are mooshed into one contact record with hundreds of e-mail addresses and thousands of customer history items all together in one useless swirl. As a matter of fact, she did this twice, and so there are two of these large conglomerations of worthlessness. Thus I am here at 9:30 in the evening trying to combine my best system administration, database administration, and database programming skills to make some sense out of this muddle. Ugh. Marketing people should not be allowed anywhere near computers. We IT people seem to innevitably end up the butt of the joke, however. I'm just glad that Don Shamber is here to keep me company.

We could, but senior management still refuses to allow us to activate the deadly CRT heat ray in the monitors, and they only let us use the phasers for printing. We're not allowed to use the lasers to burn anything other than CDs and DVDs, and they won't let us convert the workstation power supplies to give a jolt to errant users.

OK, I'll bite. I know what an idiot is (mirrors are such handy things), but what the heck is a PEBCAK?
