War, of course! We exported something like $152 billion last year in Iraq alone, not to mention the cost in human lives. [snark] That figure includes the $150.5 billion paid to Halliburton, so that may disqualify it as an "export". [/snark]
[rant] Speaking of which, I heard last night we paid Halliburton over $27 million to transport $82,000.00 worth of propane in Iraq last year. What's wrong with this picture? [/rant]
Seriously, it would appear agricultural exports are our largest, and from what I could tell, soy beans may be the single largest item. Somehow, that knowledge doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling about our future in the global economic market. I would like to think we led in something a little more high tech and stable.
"When I think of the U.S., I think
soy bean!" Just doesn't have that ring of success that I think it should.
