It's definitely not cooperating very well with FireFox. On the main page, I currently get NO pulldown menus whatsoever.

Have you guys tried Opera? You need to be on a recent operating system so the Windows Media Player works, but everthing else seems to operate correctly.

I'm trying out Firefox and find it pretty nice. Unfortunately the cool mouseover menus at the top don't work for me. Do I have some security setting ratcheted down too tightly?

Oh, and OT, Opera is one of the few commercial (gotta pay!) browsers for the PC. Many people really do swear by it, but Firefox has the main feature, tabbed browsing, included in it, so it's now mostly compatability issues (lack of?) that set Opera apart.

BUT by name only, this is the browser for you OT!

I really like FireFox, been using it for a couple of months now. Like you said re the mouseover pulldowns on the b.com home page, though. I don't think it's an issue on our end, I think it's bug on b.com's end. I hope Super Chris can fix it.

As much as I like the "Opera" name, why would I pay when I've got something as good as FireFox at my disposal for free?!!

Opera is a for-profit software company. http://www.opera.com/ There is a free version of the Opera browser that I use. It has an ad window at the top that I don't find annoying. All I can say is try it, you might like it. I find the behavior of most web browsers to be annoying, with inefficiencies galore. Opera has some great tools built in that make browsing a pleasure. Mouse gestures are just one. Go read the story of the browser. You may become a convert.

Regarding WMP and Opera, unless you have one of the latest versions of WMP installed, the B.com page won't work properly since it tries to load something from WMP into the "now playing" portion of the page. I'm on NT so I can't get the latest WMP version and it messes with the menus in Opera. I use Netscape 7 to browse B.com.

IE? Never!

I have XP Pro, so I have WMP9. Tim, should I load WMP10?

*igJon, I'll take a look at Opera. I tried using the free version Juno way back when. The omnipresent ad banner drove me to distraction, so I ended up paying for it just to get rid of the banner. However, I've been thoroughly staisfied with FireFox, and like its inherent immunity from viruses......virii.....viriae.....oh, whatever!

OT, I don't think you can get rid of IE 6 in, XP BUT, you can run the repair tool to see if that will help fix your problem??
I've got WMP 10 and I can listen to B. R crystal clear. Good luck,

I don't use IE at all. It's there, but I ignore it. I pay it less attention than a piece of trash, since TinyFlaccid won't let me throw it away.

I believe the problem lies where b.com's software interfaces with browsers other than IE and possible NetScape. I use FireFox(have I already said that, like maybe a dozen times? ), which is a free, open-domain browser that I find vastly superior to IE or NS.

OT, WMP 9 should work with Opera. You may need to point out its existance (existentialism?) to Opera. I can tell you how to do that if you have problems.

Ahh, but the enemy is antiexistensionationalistism, feared by existensionationalists the world over.

BTW, if I might make a suggestion: The links that normally show toward the top of the page, taking you back to the BBB and the thread you're on would be more useful if they were at the bottom of the page as well, since that's where I usually stop reading posts.
