Had two English Springer Spaniels, brother and sister. The male was HUGE. I'm thinkin he weighed close to 70 lbs. and he was all muscle.
Weirdest thing.
In addition to his unusual size and strength, he was mildly retarded and had a bad temper to boot. Even the horses gave him wide berth.
He chased butterflies for hours.
You couldn't keep him out of the rotting apples under the tree so his nose was swollen and raw from bee stings in the late summer.
His other favorite past time was porcupine and skunk hunting.
To get the quills out of his mouth, you had to get him drunk. Otherwise, he was liable to take your head off.
Good thing he liked beer. He could down three beers in about 15 minutes and knock himself out.
Not sure how we discovered that.
He didn't even do typical Spaniel water loving in a typical Spaniel way. If you took him to a lake, you had to tie a rope to him because he would start swimming for the other side and never give up...ever. He cried all the way home.
A man is the sum of his actions, of what he has done, of what he can do, Nothing else.
