FireFox and RP issues

Postby Ltspd » Thu Apr 07, 2005 3:16 pm

Anyone have any trouble with RP and Firefox?

Reason I ask is RP w/Radio pass stops about every 15 to 20 minutes and gives me this security message and I have to go back to B.com and reconnect.

Called RP Tech support and they had me do 2 things on 2 diffrent calls. The last guy said it was Firefox and I should use Exploder.

I prefer Firefox and from reading the Mozilla thread no one else has this problem.

Also, RP will not connect at 96k from there Radio section, to get 996k I have to go to B.com and connect. Not a big deal, but diffrent. RP tech had no answer for that one.

If WMP ran 96k stream I would use it after the issues I am having with RP

Running WMP and B.com I do NOT have this problem.

Cable connection, fast computer, 1 gig of Ram, fast cpu, clean running. (Livelyhood)

HELP!!

Hi Ltspd,

I've run B.com on RP(through the link on the B.com site) for hours on end with no problems of the type you indicate, and my machine doesn't hold a candle to yours in terms of performance(13MB hd, 384MB RAM, 800MHz Duron, phone line DSL).

You might try the helpme@beethoven.com route, and see if the mighty Chris Larsen has any wisdom regarding this.

Good luck.

Hi LT,

Using Firefox shouldn't make a difference to the stream because once you launch Real Player from the link, it doesn't interact with Firefox at all (RP uses its own broswer to display our now playing information). I did have to click on the link a couple of times from Firefox before the stream loaded.

Also, when the stream drops out, try checking the quality of your connection. Go to www.broadbandreports.com and click on tests and bandwidth test. This will tell you if something is hogging your network connection. You should get something close to at least 1MB download for a good cable connection. Real is also a processor hog so make sure you don't have too many programs running in the background. If you're running XP, click START, RUN, and type MSCONFIG. Click the STARTUP tab and uncheck anything that doesn't look like you're anti-virus program or anything else you use regularly. Also try running a spy-ware cleanup tool like SPYBOT. (Make sure to update Spybot after downloading and installing). Good luck!

Did the Test and got a 2.8 mb dl result, I pay for 3 meg service so at leat I am almost getting what I paid for ;)

Checked msconfig and unchecked about everything, had about 10 items running.

Run Adaware often plus sygate firewall all the time.

Thanks and I will let you know if it works.
