Real Player Server Problems??

I have been using Real Player for some time now.

I booted me off this morning and now tells "Can't Connect to Server"

I can get B.com very easily via the free Windows Media Player. The Windows Player works faster than the Real Player. If this continues I may cancel my Real Player subscription and use the free Windows Player....

Here we go again.
Real Player Threw me out of listening to B.com.

Now when I attempt to log back on it tells me no connection to server.

I'm now listening on Windows Media Player with no problem...

This has been occuring too often in the past month.
Why am I paying for Real Player if I can't get service?

Sorry TrumpetMaster but it seems to be a system wide problem with them. Yesterday I was using Real to listen to Air America Radio and it kept kicking me off. It seems to be wide spread. I will let Chris Larsen (our IT Director) know. He has a direct line to them he can call for answers. I'll have him post when he gets an answer from them.

(I did notice it started when Katrina hit. It maybe a down line somewhere due to the storm - but that's my theory.)

OK I just heard back from Larsen. He called Real and they are having a problem with the "authentication programs". Which in geek talk basically means people can not log into the Real Pass or they get kicked off. They say they are working on it and hope to have it fixed soon. At least we have the Windows Stream so you can keep listening.

I work in IT so I know when "Authentication Problems" arise it causes grief to the users.

You may be right. I'm paying for this service and can't tell you how many times during the day I get bumped off. The stream gets interrupted for a few seconds at a time then comes back.

I have Windows Media Player but chose Real Player so I could get onto B.com as there are limited Windows Media Player connections.

I have found the Windows Media Player to be more reliable than Real Player. I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription to Real Player and take my chances....

I have both. I've found I can listen to B.com on Real Player without having to pay for the subscription! SSSSSHHHHH! Maybe it's just a benefit of paying them for viewing sports games not televised here. Hey, it's worth a try. Open Real Player and search for B.com after you cancel your subscription; maybe you can donate the extra dough to Beethoven radio to open up another WMP channel.

No interruptions & the sound quality is better than Real Player.

Had to shut down Real Player as it kept cutting in and out today when trying to listen.
Not sure what's going on there.

Get rid of it, unistall it, dump it in the trash. Run a registry cleaner to make sure it's out of your system. Ah, that feels better.

You have to do something with the folks running the B.com stream at Real Player.

I've been listening for 1 hour now this morning and posting on the BBB. Three times I have been thrown out of Real Player and received a Security message that my session was terminated due to inactivity.

This is a Music Station. What if I'm just sitting here listening to the music?

Something is wrong here and needs to be fixed.
Are they running maintenance? If that's the case then provide a proper message when bouncing servers.

I NEVER experienced this when using the free Windows Media Player.

I subscribed as I want to always get on B.com from work and not get shut out due to fewer ports on Windows Media Player but I am at my wits end here.

The service with Real Player is not as good as WMP.

Don't know what B.com Service Level Agreements are with Real Player.

Real Player kicked me out again.
When I try to get back on I get a message
telling me that B.com is NOT ON THE AIR
