I'm sorry I missed that conclusion from your posts. You don’t believe that the HSUS employs a former ALF Spokesman because the site I cited is inflammatory in language? Or believe he is employed, but you don’t believe that his employment is that big a deal?

Your conclusion cant be drawn from my posts.

ALF is a big furry alien. Im sure he is always kindly towards animals. I dont know why he needs a spokesperson, but that person should certainly be paid for doing the job, but I have no idea why anyone would make a big deal of it.....

ok seriously:
the SITE under discussion did not give the example of vandalism. You did. Perhaps because all I read was the update on the site, I missed something. Perhaps it was just a supplement. Either way, it was vague, frantic and nasty. Where I work, an update includes the entire original, which is what I was expecting. I can be edumacated. (probably)

I made no conclusion regarding employment of nasty people. Nor have I ever stated that I support HSUS.

I will not accept the site's definition of what a Humane Society "should" be. It is what it is. If others (animal shelters) borrowed the name, so be it. PacMan didnt raise money for political lobbying either. Eeek.

So, I still question the site.

I did check some other organizations as presented on the site. In some cases the site presents a straightforward finanacial analysis. In others they rant (CSPI oh my!), with more or less support for their rantings. Ok, they have an opinion. Where they support the opinion, I am intrigued enough to follow up with additional googlage. Where they dont, I disregard them entirely. Their tone of voice leads me to that reaction.

But somehow, this got twisted from a discussion of the quality of a website to whether or not I support terrorism. I dont. Tsky tsky tsky. <finger shaking icon>

The debit cards handed out to 'Big Easy' residents were not issued by Capital One, so barbarians are descending on New Orleans.

That was good, Serenity, but did you catch this one?

Nation Waits as Bush Prepares to Take Responsibility

"Since the responsibility idea was floated several days ago, the White House post office has been flooded with letters and packages from all over the country. “We have received hundreds of vials of hemlock, several loaded pistols, a few canisters of poison gas, and a genuine Japanese wakizashi. We told the president about all these recent gifts, and he said he would stop down to pick some of them up. The most popular thing being sent to the president are whips of all descriptions – leather whips, chains, maces, even big bull whips. Evidently there are a lot of Americans who think the best thing George Bush can do to improve his public image is to appear on national TV while flagellating himself.”

When asked about the prospects of self-flagellation, President Bush said, “I promised Laura I would never do that again after she caught me in the study watching a ‘Girls Gone Wild’ video… it was very embarrassing for me.”

On the floor of the US Senate, a number of prominent Democrats suggested that they would be happy to volunteer to use the whip on President Bush if he could not do it himself. Senator Barbara Boxer claimed that she had first dibs on the studded bullwhip. Ted Kennedy is keeping a list which he says even includes a growing number of moderate Republicans."

What do you call a guy who was born in Columbus, grows up in Cleveland and then dies in Cincinnatti?

If an airplane flying from Mexico City to Toronto crashes on the state line between Kansas and Nebraska, where would the survivors be buried?

Here's a classic:

As I was going to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives.
Every wife had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits.
Kits, cats, man, wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?

That one bugged me even as a kid. I walk faster than many people and often meet people who are going the SAME DIRECTION I am.

Well, technically, you "meet" someone if you are going in different directions, you "overtake" them if you come up from behind.

Of Course, you could still meet them at an intersection and all continue on in the same direction, i.e. toward St. Ives.

But I think the point is the only clearly identified in the verse as being bound for St. Ives is the storyteller.

You're standing in a room where the east wall faces south. There is a window in that wall. A bear walks by the window.

What color is the bear?
