Value of Old LPs

Can any one tell me the value or give me a web site to look up value of these: RCA blue label copy right 1938 - Beethovan Symphony #8 in F minor and "Aida" Part I-IV. These five LPs are in good shape and are labeled "Worlds Greatest Music". Can E-mail back to fdiamond@does.summitoh.net

Probably your best bet is to fix up an old phonograph and enjoy the records.

Google or Altavista search on the artists in your Aida recording to find out who they were. You mighta got lucky.

What I found is that most post 1920 records aren't very rare or valuable. But i had a great time exploring old record collector sites on the net.

Analog's right, at least in my experience.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't chuck the recordings, especially if they seem to be in good condition.

If you get the opportunity, play them. If you play them on a victrola, remember to replace the needle everytime you play a record. Needles wear faster than the records, and a worn needle will expedite the wear of the record.

It may even be worthwhile to transfer the recordings to digital format.

Indeed, most records are more valuable to the owner than to anyone else. I doubt if my vast collection is worth ten grand on a good day, but it represents almost a lifetime of enjoyment.

LPs from 1938? I'm guessing it's really an album (which really means an album) of 78s. I have a Shure V-15 type 5 MR with a 78 stylus for playing 78s. I wouldn't use a victrola type player if I wanted to listen to the record twice.
