Piano Concerto No. 2...

Postby Nomad313 » Fri Sep 16, 2005 1:55 pm

Hi,

Is it just me or does Rachmaninoff's Concerto No. 2 in C minor sound a lot like the 70's song "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen? (not Cartman..) Well... maybe that should be the other way around! Does Eric Carmen's song sound like Concerto No. 2... Perhaps he got his influence from Rachmaninoff?

Just a though...

I know the big theme from the last movement was made into a song called "Full Moon and Empty Arms." maybe Eric Carmen heard that song and was "very influenced."
for the record, I never heard the song "Full Moon and Empty Arms," and the only Carmen I know is Bizet's. (actually I've heard of Carmen Elektra [which is a fascinating name since it combines Bizet and R. Strauss... {or is the pop star's name spelled Electra???}]}.

Nomad,

A while back we had a thread somewhere that discussed where certain pop tunes got their inspration. Your Eric Carmen song was one of them. There are many more. Some good Googling will turn them up.
