Change User Name

Postby Trumpetmaster » Mon Apr 24, 2006 8:19 am

I realize you upgraded to a new server this weekend,
but my real user name that I log into b.com is being displayed.

I went into profiles and there is no place that I see
to modify the displayed user name.

Please help ASAP..

Hi Chris,

What about all of the big threads, photos, etc.? They're all gone.

Yeah, I'm working on those and some formatting issues. :( Everything made it over (except maybe phots) but the conversion just goffed up a little. Hopefully I'll have it all ironed out today.

Hi Chris,

It looks like all threads with a lot of pages are gone, too. Was that intentional? Also pm's aren't working: After I hit "Submit", all I got was a blank page.

I don't mean to sound whiny or critical, but a heads up might have been a good idea.

:)

ALL SAVED PM'S ARE GONE?!! I need them back.

PM s and chair ranking

Postby Selma in Sandy Eggo » Mon Apr 24, 2006 10:07 am

Check your PMs, OT, I sent you one. I'd like to know if the system is working.

Also, I note that there is a new chair. I'm anxious to know who else does solos!

Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? (Exodus 14:11)

All right already.
I just found out (by trial and error) how to set the time format to the 24-hr system I have been using for the last 50 years.
I'm sure I'll get used to the rest of the smart stuff.

Btw, Chris, is it possible to change that format so that it reads "Today - time" and "Yesterday -time" for the most recent posts?

Photos can be posted

FYI, I was able to fix a couple of the photos in one of the "projects" messages. It's a formatting issue that just seems a bit different than the one on the old board.

Thanks, BigJon. I customised the settings as soon as I logged in to the new forum. But what I need is for it to display "Today" for messages posted in the past 24 hours, "Yesterday" for those posted in the 24 hours before. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. This is a common feature in some of the other boards I visit, although I don't think they use phpBB. I'm not able to find the appropriate code for that.

There seems to be two common paradigms bb's use for alerting you to recent posts. Here you click on the 'show posts since your last visit' at the top of the index pager and all the recent threads are gathered in one place. The other is highlighting the threads since you last visited and making you scan for cues like "yesterday" or "today".

I prefer this one, it seems more efficient to me. If you want to suggest or find the modification to make it do as you wish, you can research if someone has already done it here http://www.phpbb.com/
