Firefox 2.0 releases tomorrow for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It is virtually the same as the test version that can still be downloaded at their home site.

Yes!

Although many people are now blaming them for including a LOT of stuff making it quite bigger than it was when it came out. I agree, even though I've wondered why many features (that can be obtained from extensions) weren't included by default.

I am now a Firefox user. I went to upgrade from Netscape 7.2 at eBay's recommendation, and I discovered Netscape 8.0 no longer offers an email reader; it is purely a browser now, not a suite. It also has the IE rendering engine contained within, which makes it a security threat in my book. Thunderbird seems a nice reader and it is compatible with my Netscape 7.2 files, so Firefox and Thunderbird it is for me. No mods yet, but there are a few thing I miss from Netscape that I will be searching for in the extensions forums.

What extensions can't you live without?

Here's a favelet I can't do without. An in-line spelling checker for my forum postings. It can be a little quirky, but it works great for the most part.

I can't live without Tabs Mix Plus, but most, if not all, of its features are now incorporated into 2.0. A combination of Reliby (updates all your live bookmarks with one click) and live click.

Then comes Dictionary Tooltip, BBCode (a must for forum junkies), Term Blaster. At the moment I have 18 out of 24 extns. running.

That's because the latest Firefox has an inline spell checker. And as I type, I see the words BigJon, navneeth and Nav underlined in red. But the worst part is that it also says the word colour is spelt incorrectly. :rant:

Got to change the dictionary.

Do you have a selection of English variants in the dictionary settings? Or do you have to manually enter the non-California settings in a User Dictionary?

I'm stuck with Outlook at work, but by selecting Word as my email processor, I get all the various Word dictionaries. I can set it to recognize the different spelling conventions of English. I have no use for the Japanese or Greek dictionaries :lol:

I have to manually install the non-Californian English dictionary (or any other non-English language).

Just downloaded IE7. They copied the tabs idea that was a main selling point for Firefox. I can hear Daffy Duck saying "You're dethpicable." All it needs now is to detach the name Microsoft from Explorer so it won't be targeted by hackers everywhere.

I have been using it too (IE7). I really like the tabbing, especially when I am working on multiple tasks on the computer. Keeps my bottom taskbar more organized and accessible. I don't like where they stuck the "refresh" and "close" buttons though. I wish I could find a way to put them over on the left near the "favorites" star.

Practically every "new" feature of the latest IE was taken from other browsers. But tabs go back to a time long before Mozilla came on to the scene. I think every (popular) browser today has tabs.

I finally upgraded to FireFox 2. I love the in-line spell checker, but try finding any help on it. FireFox's included help is poor. The web-based help isn't much better. I found the solution to my problem on a non-Mozilla site.

One thing I find annoying is if I type a URL and hit enter, it doesn't go to that page, I must click on the arrow to the right. Is there a setting where it will accept enter instead of needing to click the button?
