Trees fall down and land on houses, especially when it's windy following far too much rain. I've had two trees fall in my yard in five years. But I'm keeping my oak.

Seriously, we are going to get rid of the rest of the pines on our property. They are not faring well, and doing so will enhance the "understory" of the wooded area behind our yard.

Lots of fireplace activity next winter. :)

I don't understand. I thought it was good to run up a huge deficit. Why is this such a big deal?

Y'all need to get your story straight.

I"ve got my story straight. I said a huge deficit is not a big deal, I didn't say it was 'good to run up a huge deficit'.

I posted the link because it shows disputes two things that are being bandied about by those who oppose this President: He is reducing the deficit, and the tax cuts are providing records amount of Federal revenues. Given that the Democrats favour re-instating the 'death tax', which is the basis they gave for rejecting the minimum wage hike legislation, they obviously still don't understand the principles of economics. In their lexicon - more taxes = more revenue, less taxes = less revenue - which has been proven wrong several times now. Ronaldus Maximus, President Clinton, and now President George W. Bush have raised revenues by lowering taxes. How much more proof do they need?

It's obviously not when OT reaches into the carcass, grabs the entrails, twists them around, makes a noose for the horse's neck, throws a loop over a nearby tree branch, hoists up the cadaver and declares "It's alive!"

Democrats new threat to the American way of life

”Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, a likely Democratic presidential candidate in 2008, delivered a 15-minute, blistering attack to warm applause from Democrats and union organizers here on Wednesday. But Mr. Biden’s main target was not Republicans in Washington, or even his prospective presidential rivals.

It was Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest private employer.”

Yep, not Islamofascist terrorists, not oppressive dictatorships, not drug cartels nor organized crime -- Wal-Mart.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” Alexis De Tocqueville 1835

And another new species emerges as global warming restores the flora and fauna of the Earth. Can the Apteryx and the Dodo be far behind?

Ah! But you ignore the tone I set at the start of this thread - I claim that the sudden upsurge in the variety of species being found is the result of global warming bringing them back from the junk-heap of history. The warming of the Earth is bringing us back to the brave new world of Pangaea, tropical paradises at the poles, and dinosaurs roaming the Earth. It's only a matter of time till gargantuan reptiles, frozen for millenia in the icy bowels of Antarctica, thaw out and roam the land once more.

It's been 65 million years since Liberalism and Democrat's foolhardy environmental efforts drove those wonderful critters into hiding, and only through the accelerated warming brought about by Ronaldus Maximus and the Bush Dynasty are we now seeing a reversal of that trend.

Now excuse me while I shed these man-made fabrics in favour of an animal hyde, and find my club....

Apteryx is still alive & kicking, Shap. Endangered, certainly, but not extinct yet. I'm waiting for someone to clone a mammoth. It should be possible- the DNA's been well frozen.
