Listening to Beethoven's The Creatures of Prometheus, and I thought the theme sounded very familiar......and sure enough it was what I thought.

Hmmm, I guess I never realized that part of the theme of The Creatures of Prometheus was used in the Finale of his Eroica 3rd Symphony. :roll:

Hi Ray, he also used the theme for one of his contradances (#7?), and the Eroica Variations for piano. It's amazing what can be squeezed out of a simple theme. That goes for Paganini's 24th Caprice and the famous Dies Irae.

Thanks Shos, I didn't know that. Mind you, I haven't heard the contradances or the Eroica variations for piano. My goodness, LVB has ALOT of piano compositions.

Got to start listening/learning more about Paganini's works, since I so enjoy the violin.

This didn't use to be my favorite of his sonatas, (Appassionata held that title), but it has continually grown on me and has now become my favorite sonata.

Yes, I remember them. Are they now Ponderosa, or did Ponderosa simply open new facilities where the Bonanzas once stood in our area?

I thought they were separate. As a child in the early 1980's, I remember they had both chains in Winnipeg. They have both disappeared from Winnipeg since the late '80's. I just assumed both were no longer existing.

I've not seen a Bonanza in years, but we now have Ponderosa Steakhouses in the locations that were formerly occupied by Bonanza. I seem to recall that Ponderosa Steakhouses existed at the same time as Bonanza, so I assumed they had bought them out.

Time to go a Googlin'.

Apparently, they have merged. They still operate under the name Bonanza in some locations.

BTW, I'm rather enjoying the Mozart Piano Concerto (in G Minor, K478) that is currently playing. Just to keep this on topic.

The Blue Danube has for a long time been one of my favorite works. Been a favorite of mine even before I started getting into listening to classical music.

I've never heard a version with vocals though.

I was listening the Au Fond du Temple Saint on B.com, and was curious who was performing it (I thought I had heard better versions played here). Using the 'listen and link' feature, I followed it to Amazon.com, and found this: Greatest Opera Show on Earth.

Am I missing something? Does anyone else see Au Fond du Temple Saint on the listing?
