Took a long time before Mahler got into the 30Q lineup!

Mahler is considered Austrian, I think that's why it took so long to figure out that he was born in the Czechoslovakian area.

That is why I had to answer the "Western European" question with a 'no' and 'yes'. Bohemia (Czechoslavakia) is not a part of Western Europe, but Austria is. The question did not specify 'born in Western Europe", so I was left with the answer. He wan't born there, but he lived, composed, and decomposed there.

Yes, we needed to be more specific with the question of birth or nationality. It would have helped tremendously in this case!

(Who says I wouldn't pick a collection of songs? Mahler combined songs into a single work in most of his major pieces.)

That's somewhat true, but from what I saw, only the two lieders (the guesses) were listed. It could also be that the word Lieder wasn't explicitly mentioned in the name of the work. Oh well...
