For record keeping, that question from you
would bear the number of ten plus two!

The clues, laid out in a dazzling array
Make me wonder: Is the composer Bizet?

Onward towards a solution she forges!
The composer, indeed, is Georges!

And now, it seems, it is time for Shap
To compose a (somewhat) poetic recap.

The composition, an oprea in Asia set,
Composed by the renowned Georges Bizet.

Composed between 1821 and his death,
he composed no more after his terminal breath.

For in 1875, I am supposing,
he set to the task of decomposing.

This superior poetry is most impressive,
For my own verses make me depressive.

But for the sake of progressing
I'll try my hand at guessing:

Is it the Les Pecheurs de Perles?

Carmen and Numa, those two it ain't.
It contains Au fond du temple saint

and Je Crois Entendre, beautifully done
Les Pecheurs de Perles, that is the one!

Bizet lived for a while in the city of Rome
But Paris, in France, is where he called home.

The Pearl Fishers debuted in eighteen sixty-three,
Before Georges had reached the age of thirty.

It was set in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka.
For your kind remarks, I now say 'Danke'

And, now, Hexameron, it seems to me,
You get to do number fifty-three!

When I started to do this, I had my doubt
that I could carry the rhyme throughout.

Not every line was exactly a jewel,
my pronunciation of Bizet was cruel

Poetic License I stretched quite a bit
in order for some words to make fit.

and looking at my efforts at verse
I realize I could have done worse!
