Chamber Match

Postby Catmando » Wed Nov 08, 2006 7:23 pm

Time for your favorite musical duels!

How about a battle of "Great 1st's", such as Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto vs. Brahms 1st Piano Concerto? Which one for you is the Cat's :kitty:

How 'bout a battle of 2 great opera arias?

Or a Symphonic Square-off?

Ideas?! Catchy battle titles welcome! Will try and get beethoven to post the weekly "Chamber Match" battle on the main beethoven.com website.

It would be a time limited poll question. I also think it might be better if the voting numbers of the poll aren't revealed until the poll is closed. I think %'s or numbers when a poll is still open influences whether a person votes or not. IMO.

What happened to the polling feature on the threads? It would be easy to run a 'celebrity death match' using that feature. Start with a list of pieces and let them duke it out. Next week a new list, with the winner of the previous match-up going head-to-head with other pieces until a final winner is chosen.

You could, as you suggest here, break them up by types, and then finish it off with a grand tournament.

Might be fun.

Polling features are still in use, as far as I know, on the BBB forum. However, the main Beethoven.com weekly poll reaches ALOT more people and would get tons more votes.

Could make it sort of like an NHL or NBA playoff system (group of 16), like you said, with various categories (symphonies, concertos, operas, zaniest composer  , etc). The group of 16 in each category eventually narrows down to 1 final showdown to figure out the winner in each category.
